The Grok Bot credit-saver checklist
10 habits that cut wasted agent loops. Bookmark it, or print it (Ctrl/Cmd+P).
- Write the done criteria before you start (file, format, length, test).
- Name the exact files or sources; tell the bot not to explore beyond them.
- Batch small edits into one request instead of many tiny ones.
- Use a 'budget mode' wrapper for routine work (Template 2).
- Send heavy coding/planning to a harness you already pay for (Claude Code CLI or Cursor Cloud Agent).
- Create one master template with the strongest model, then mass-produce variations cheaply.
- Ask for a plan first on anything that looks like 15+ steps.
- Schedule repetitive jobs with tight, reusable instructions instead of re-explaining.
- Check your usage page after big jobs; keep a weekly usage log (Template 20).
- Never let the bot send, post, buy or delete without your OK: mistakes cost more than credits.
